    Afaik the 2.0 litre PD TDi has a DPF. Only the 1.9 TDi didn't have a DPF.

    It really depends on the driving style. Short trips kill DPFs as the regenerations cycle that burns the particles is interupted and soot builds up until it gets totally blocked.

    Not sure how the VAG system works but with the PSA units there is a special additive which needs topping every now and then. PSA DPFs generally need replacing after 100k miles. I would not replace the DPF unless it actually needs to be replaced. Usually the car will start experiencing performance problems and eventually go into limp home mode and throw out some sort of emmissions warning on the dash.
