I'm curious if anyone has gotten into trouble in work from using boards.

    Hasn't happened me yet.

There's not a lot they can do when I'm on the bog doing this. Greetings from Stinksville.

While you can't stop a company recording all the URL's you visit, you can hide the content. Eg. if they have software to scan the pages looking for "naughty" words or banned content.

Instead of using http://www.boards.ie use https://www.boards.ie

Https is a secure version of http, which means nobody "in the middle" between your browser and the boards web server can see what you're looking at/posting.

i'm quite regularly told my my boss to get the f'uck off boards and do some work...

he even knows by my typing when i'm on boards - apparently i slam the f'cuk out of the keyboard sometimes, but that's only when i'm arguing with nodin :o

I'm my own boss. And I've told myself many times to get off boards. In fact, I think I may have to put myself on probation.

Using the s now. Looks a bit too weird for my liking.

Me too. I have never heard of that before - does it really work? I don't want to Google it in case it's some sort of techno joke and work finds out and laughs at me.

Hey - two years and counting of working and Boardsing and I haven't got into trouble... yet...

Never been caught and I wouldn't be too worried if I did, as long as I get my work done, besides people get up to a lot worse than dossing on the internet.

Not really. TBH Im sure theyre glad that i use it to vent my frustration/mad ideas instead of venting it at them

In any case i dont use it enough to warrant trouble - a quick check of Roads, AH and Westmeath and im set for the day :pac:

In fairness people look at worse stuff on the internet while at work. And it varies from place to place, a former housemate of mine used to work in a bank and even stuff like gmail or hotmail was blocked. PC - fuelled nonsense.

So if they do monitor the internet can they see your username on boards or what?
Like when you log out of boards & it says cookies cleared does that mean they cant see who you log in as?

My brother got a "formal warning" for posting something about his job on Boards, weirdly though it was something that was common knowledge.

Most websites are blocked on our computers in work :(

But there is always boards mobile while I'm on my lunch!:D:D

Got it brought up a couple of times in professional life. Mostly it's been a positive, i.e. "Fair play for saying that". A couple of slaps on the wrist. It's dangerous, though, if you work in some industries that rely heavily on public relations and talk shop.
