Been out of Ireland for quite awhile now but due to outside circumstances I'm coming home.

So I've been hearing a lot on the news (When I manage to pick up on it) that Sinn Fein and Fine Gael are contenders in the running? Interesting, not sure what has happened since I've left.

So what I wanna know is who is going to be the party to actually make a change in Irelands interests?

I've no actual knowledge of politics or economics so maybe I'm not quite seeing the big picture. But couldn't we try to mimic the celtic tiger (remember that ole thing) obviously we're in a much dyer financial state than we were back then but we do have something we didn't have back then. A knowledge based country, we have some of the finest and brightest seaching the world for work.

Why can't we do another Tax based incentive to encourage big companies similar to Dell and other computer manufacturers to come here again. With a clear perogative to highering graduates and former graduates of Irish colleges and universities (of course this might work on paper).

Of course salaries in these areas would have to be basic and just about helping people make ends meet rather than having them on the live register or emigrating.

Another thing that occured to me is that we could reduce import duties for businesses so they can source materials for less money and thus redue prices and encourage people to spend more and then they'd have enough of a turn over to increase their work force. I also believe I read something about Irish exports being steady in terms of demand (Unless they meant the people emigrating) perhaps the tax on exports should be reduced too to increase these exports.

Just two thoughts I had recently and couldn't really see much fault in them I think the government would have to implement policies and have a very tough time monitoring these but perhaps some kind of ombudsmen could be set up to regulate these policies (more jobs for the ombudsmen)

So is there a party who are going to take any of the steps I have mentioned or is there one better? Please let me know because I won't bother voting with jet lag unless its worth while. I have no ties to any party so please feel free to try win me over.

Keep it clean guys I want a clean fight

Thanks for the input, didn't know FG were really doing so well cause I tought Enda Kenny would have got it last time but will their 5 prong strategy work?

Enda has been planning to make cut backs on education which was gonna happen regardless, am I right in saying that? What is going to happen to the people on the live register and people who are in the welfare system?

I Know you said FG is likely to take control of things? Do you want to see them in power?

I think its dangerous just posting here and asking whos the best, reason being that you'll get swayed views based on whoever is replying like the above. Just like if a SF or Socialist party supporter replied you would hear stories about how all our tax money with be going to bank debt + interest, but they'd fail to bring up other things like how do we pay for our deficit.

I know this is simplifying but try this http://www.votomatic.ie/Test.aspx

(im by no means saying you should base your vote on this but it might give you an idea)

By the way, you'll probably notice in the past year the whole country has become an expert in economics
