Juju & Jordash:

Throughout the '90s, Juju & Jordash each played in and composed for various jazz and experimental combos by day. By night, they were both experimenting with electronic dance music.

In 2005, they started releasing music, starting with 'The Hush' EP on Reggie Dokes’ legendary Detroit label Psychostasia, followed by a string of EPs and LPs on a myriad of international labels including Real Soon, Aesthetic Audio, Underground Quality, Deep Explorer, Ropeadope, Uzuri, Philpot, and Dekmantel.

Their musical influences range from Thelonius Monk to Ryuichi Sakomoto, from Can to Mr. Fingers and from Cabaret Voltaire to Ornette Coleman. Yet it's hard to describe Juju & Jordash's own sound. One might venture to say a unique fusion of electronic and acoustic, Detroit-flavored techno, Chicago House and free jazz - or, more poetically, music from the future gazing deeply into the past.

Here in the Discotekken Towers we simply consider Juju & Jordash in the top 5 most interesting electronic music producers / DJs alive today.

North Strand Kontra Band:

The North Strand Kontra Band was formed on the North side of Dublin in the Winter of 2005. They are a seven piece instrumental band who play a mix of original and traditional material influenced predominantly by the music of Romania and Bulgaria. They have played on the Late Late Show hosted by Pat Kenny and in many of the leading venues and festivals all over Ireland and abroad, with their live shows being lauded for their high energy levels and explosive musicianship. The line up includes; Clarinet, Saxophone, Trombone, Accordion, Banjo, Double Bass and Drums.

The Bugle Babes:

The Bugle Babes, a 1940's style harmony group, based on The Wartime Sweethearts, The Andrews Sisters.

The Bugle Babes were formed by Derby Browne in 2007, and have consistently performed at concert venues, festivals and private events ever since.
They consist of three singers (Derby, Lou and Sue) dressed in 1940's style costume performing the hits of the 1940's Hit Parade, (Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Chatanooga Choo-Choo, Don't Fence Me In) as well as modern songs, given a vintage treatment (I Will Survive, Mr Sandman, and songs by Beyoncee, The Bangles and Blondie). These fantastic tunes, combined with superb choreography, slick singing, tight harmonies and seamed stockings make for a fairly lively atmosphere!

The Bugle Babes have performed in the National Concert Hall, as well as on radio and TV, including The Late Late Show, and in many top venues around Ireland.

Indecent Cigar Emporium:

With clear neon lines of influence stretching from Motown, funk and disco; to electro, hip-hop and doo-wop, the Indecent Cigar Emporium effortlessly blend found-sounds and grooves from the entire spectrum of up-tempo popular music, with the lyrical sensibility and contextual awareness of five amorous and fidgety-limbed Dublin dance floor veterans.

The release of their new album 'Straight To Video' was very warmly received recently, and makes 2011 look like it holds very bright prospects for the lads!

Traz:

After the success of their last two gigs in the Twisted Pepper, Traz take to the stage again for another installment of their unique live show. Having received a startling amount of praise in such a short space of time, Traz have made it clear that they are certainly ones to watch for 2011.
Traz play the early show in the Twisted Pepper Mezz from 6-8pm.

Jerome's Law:

With a new album in the works, and much critical acclaim to date, 2011 looks to be an exciting year for Jerome's Law.
