I am considering purchasing a Riva 66 . One installer tells me that there is no need for a flue liner. Others are saying that it is essential . I always thought a flue liner was needed to at least 4 feet as the flue gases are quite hot and may damage the chimney if no liner is inserted. The house is a bungalow and stove is multi fuel.

    Appreciate any advice ,
    many thanks

The chap who told you that you dont need a liner....drop him like a hot potatoe,as hes just being lazy and doesnt want to bother his ar5e doing the hard bit of installing the liner.

You NEED a stainless steel twin walled flexi flue liner.

Stovax even state to use one for the Riva 66.

The Riva 66 has a 6 inch outlet spigot on it,so you need to buy a 6 inch diamater flexi flue liner kit

Heres my recently installed Riva 66 multi fuel inset stove.Old grotty 70s style redbrick fireplace converted to modern Riva 66 inset stove.

we installed a riva 66 as well in our living room.
    it looks very nice.
we're still at the "baking" stage so only small fires to have it settle but i noticed that it has a very strong wind sound when is on.
it goes through wood fairly fast, not sure it that's normal or not. i'm waiting to get the "go ahead" with it at full power.

is your stove making this type of noise?
also the glass got quite dirty, what do you use to clean it?

    cheers.

I havent lit it yet as waiting for confirmation on the flue liner. Stovax say that liner not necessary if there is an existing liner 8" or less in diameter. So waiting to get this confirmed. I think you need to run it quite hot to prevent the glass sooting.
    Best of luck

i got one of those special glass cleaners and it cleand it ok.
we got a flue liner. the installer sait that is a "must" not sure if he just upselled or he was genuine, but now i am a bit frustrated because of the wind noise that it makes when it's on.
in my oppinion it burns too much wood compared to how much heat it releases, and i suspect it's all to do with the high flue draft.
since is my first insert stove, i don't know what to expect. with the open fire, i knew what to expect and i never put my hopes too high.
please let me know how does it work for you.

Did you ever get confirmation if a flue liner is required? I have the same issue in that one installer says a flue liner is required and another says it is not required.
    Thanks.
