How often do you train? How often do you work high kicks on the heavy bag?

I do two classes a night, usually four times a week. The first class is technique and the second is Cardio but I rarely use the bag. Its mainly pad work that we do.

So is practice on the heavy bag the way to go?

Well it's more that practising high kicks is the best way to get good at high kicks. The heavy bag is good because you can do it on your own.

There are a lot of things you can do to improve flexibility, but you should concentrate on dynamic flexibility more than static stretching. Do things like leg swings, but make sure they're controlled and you don't end up doing ballistic stretches, which are bad.

The reason I asked about the classes/bagwork was just to make sure you weren't only training once a week and looking for some kind of silver bullet. With the amount of training you're doing you should be seeing good progress, though at 6 months, you'll probably have a long way to go yet.

Have you talked to your coach about it?
