New Crime Drama on TG4 Tonight at 21:30

TV crime correspondent Cathal Mac Iarnáin is the terrier of the newsroom. He'll stop at nothing to dig out the truth behind every story, regardless of who it hurts. In four hard-hitting episodes that explore the many ills of Irish society, Mac Iarnáin chases stories of health service neglect, boy-racer mindlessness, internet paedophilia and Garda corruption.

Right now, Mac Iarnáin is feeling alienated: though a communicator by profession, he lacks that gift at home. His teenage kids are on too long a leash and he's not happy that his wife Mairéad is thinking of returning to work. But he hides his chauvinism well.

Work too is no picnic. Cathal's new boss Deirdre is his worst nightmare: she's by-the-book, pushy and bugs the hell out of him. With years of experience under his belt, Cathal the maverick reckons he's untouchable. But she's been to management school...

Each news story Cathal pursues is a gruesome tale of carnage: five young lives smashed to bits in a night-time game of chicken; a Mexican stand-off between Gardaí and a troubled youth wielding a shotgun; a teenager suffering chronic neglect at the hands of her parents; and a naïve young girl unwittingly exploited through internet chatrooms...

Always on the road with work and out of touch at home, Cathal's belief in the objective truth crumbles in a world full of messy human half-truths which lead him all the way back home...
    Failed to load the poll.
