im driving a 98 almera 1.4 and the clutch is awful squeeky and wrecks my head, is its also very hard pushing down the clutch but goes into gear fine and theres no smell of burning or anything and the clutch isnt slipping ,i dont knw whether its likely to be clutch or the cable itself

Dry clutch cables are a common issue with N15 almeras. Very cheap to replace.

Get down and work the pedal slowly with your hand. Look and listen
at the pedal(might need a helper with a torch :))

I've found a light spray of white grease- most motor factors should have.
To be very good on annoying squeaks. Spray a bit on the mechanism, then repress. Good luck.
