well according to Ned O Keffe anyway.
""THE situation has become so bad that an Army coup is a real possibility.”

“Our political system is going to fail further. The two Brians have made a right mess of the country and I see the real possibility of an Army coup.
“People thought I was mad with all the things I have predicted through the years, but I foresaw the economy collapsing due to lax regulation on building housing estates and unwanted shopping centres.”
He claimed Charlie Haughey would be turning in his grave if he saw what Ireland had become.

    Article: Kark evening echo boy

Revenge of Willie O Dea perhaps? He'd make a great dictator, he has a tash and everything. Enjoy your retirement Ned, your crystal ball will be surely missed in the next Government.

"So what if Charlie liked nice women and a few extra nice shirts? He was the best leader we ever had."
    Ned O'Keeffe

    Priceless!!!

Well honestly, I'd agree ol' Charlie would be sick to his stomach, what with lack of gun running to do nowadays, no stags to hunt and private islands now being available to anyone with 50k in the bank or a balaclava. Oh deary.

Dunno, that one tank they have, the couple of gliders and wooden sticks fashioned into "guns", i'd say it would be a fairly oppressive regime.

    Ned O'Keeffe is, um, special.

These remarks are a disgusting insult to the many members of the Defence Forces who gave their lives in the service of our nation. Shame on him.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

The irish army is an unbeliveably pointless waste of money, they get paid ridiculous wages to arse round in the barracks all day doing sweet f*ck all, all 10000 of them. . . Makes the anglo irish bailout look like a strategic investment plan. . .

Scroll down to the bottom to the commisioned officers section and you'll see why there'll never be coup,

bare in mind that it goes much higher again, it probably left out the General ranks on purpose, combine these wages with a cushy relaxing do nothing civil service job thats abundant with holidays and half days and theres not a hope in hell they'd express any interest in politics whatsoever.:D

€400 per week is a ridiculous wage. I'm glad we agree.
    How much do you earn?

Hmm, yeah, underpaying the guys we arm and give weapons to would be a good plan...

OK - a mad rant by Ned O'Keefe but if you changed the thread title to "Election Irrelevant -Civil Service have taken over"
Former taoiseach John Bruton claimed today that the Republic is run by civil servants who use TDs and senators to administer their rule.

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2011/0106/breaking44.html

The former Taoiseach said this on January 6th.

    So is John mad too.

    A coup would cost extra

especially if the weather turns cold.
