Harbour House will be holding a Gallery Rifle Open Day
    on Saturday 26th February.

All are welcome , from beginners to the more experienced shooter.

The day will begin at 10am and finish at 16.30 with lunch at 13.00.

HH will provide soup , sandwiches etc for a fee of €5 / person.

There will be coaching for beginners and those who are not fully familiar with Gallery rifle events including GR1500 , T&P1 & MultiTarget .

As HH are doing some redevelopment at the moment we may not have a full 50 mtr for the GR1500 but we will show people the different positions , ie , kneeling , sitting , left shoulder ,right shoulder etc.

Each participant will provide their own ammo & safety gear ( glasses . ear defenders etc ) .

Please do your best to turn up as it will be a good day out.

If at all possible please let us know in advance whether you will be attending.

    Any questions please contact galleryrifle@nasrpc.ie

Can you please tell what the format of this shoot will be, 'cos I don't know what gallery rifle shooting consists of.

    cheers

    Gallery Rifle

The purpose of the open day is to introduce more people to the Gallery Rifle disciplines and how to practice for and compete in them.

Please note that there is also a new Gallery Rifle Discipline being introduced this year: The "Ten Twenty Match" GRSB1020 & GRCF1020,
which is a 102 shot match, shot to a max of 25m. Further details on this will be forthcoming.

Sounds great, really looking forward to it. Is this competition being run solely by the Harbour House Club or is it an NASRPC event

Hi all , this is a joint effort by both Harbour House & NASRPC .
It is not a national competition on the day but more of a days introduction to the sport of Gallery Rifle.
There will be coaching for beginners & those who have tried it before but want to know a bit more about the sport.
There will be friendly competition on the day with the all important bragging rights been the prize .

    regards
    Valhalla18.

Will this be .22 or CF or both and will suitable rifles be available. I ask this because both my rifles are bolt action and the .308 is probably a wee bit OTT anyway.

The norm is to use 0.22LR or 0.38 cal rifles for this type of shooting.

In essence the day is designed to coach and encourage those who are new to this type of shooting.

So even if you dont have a rifle you think might be suited, come along and we'll do our best to accomodate you.

    Thanks.

    PRO HH.

From reading the rules I thought it was only for sime auto's only but can a bolt action rifle be used as well without being at a disadvantage?

    Hi clivej,

There's nothing in the rulebook to say that you cant use a bolt action rifle, but you'd be putting yourself at a serious disadvantage. i.e. 12 shots in 20 seconds, including a reload.

Just to let you all know that the first Gallery Rifle Open day for 2011 went exceptionally well at Harbour House.

In total 42 people attended the Open day which is a fantastic turnout.

Glenn Forde/ECSSC (Gallery Rifle NDC) in conjunction with Matt McParland and the lads from Harbour House has their hands full with a very busy range for the day.

Mark Maguire/Harbour House and Martin Hayes/Hilltop also helped out with the day.

Due to the large numbers the focus was on Timed & Precision in order to give everyone a fair degree of instruction.
Many people learned some new techniques and indeed for many it was their first time to shoot this discipline.

It turned out to be a great day out on the range - I know - I was at home babysitting looking out at it :-(

NASRPC will now seek feedback from all those attending, review the comments of those running the Open Day and look to schedule further Open days in both Gallery Rifle & Other disciplines in the future.

Hopefully this formula will be a success and we will introduce more and more people to our sports and increase the standard of competition from club matches all the way to International teams.
