Funny, I was out at www.suits.ie in Briarhill last weekend and they were closed, not sure why but it was empty inside.

The suit shop on Merchants Rd, can't remember name now, has a sale on so maybe there?

Thanks Biko, someone else recommended the one in Briar Hill as well..I heard they were open today from someone who works nearby..I must double check.

Bought a suit earlier this week actually.

    - Anthony Ryan's have some good offers, lot of suits @ €125.

    - Carpenters on William St (upper Shop Street) have a lot of suits @ €149 in their eternal closing down sale.

    - If you're going cheaper Dunnes actually have a surprising decent suit for €50 jacket and €25 trousers (€75), both reduced a good bit to that.

    - Or the cheapest I came across was Penny's ... awful suit for €31. :p

Burton in the Headford Road shopping centre have some nice suits reasonably priced IMO for occasional wear rather than everyday wear in an office enviroment.
They often have good offers for a suit shirt tie and shoes for around 140euro

    What's your budget OP?
Do you intend to wear the suit to work?

yeah, the opening hours of the suits place in Briarhill are a touch erratic - always call before you plan to go up!

That said, hubby got a nice suit there for 100 quid, ok quality as well!

In town there's Geraghtys, Ryans and Hanleys. All do nice quality.

The one on Merchants Road is Loius Copelands.

You could also try the Vincent de Paul shop on Merchants Road; I know that they got a couple of nice suits recently for "larger framed" men!!

If you're on the big (tall) side, suit shopping in Galway isn't easy!

Don't really want to pay more than 200 quid..

The job is an office one but not sure of policy yet regarding dress code!!

IMO your best bet would be some place like Anthony Ryans so.
Shop around and i'm sure you'll get a good deal. Don't be afraid to haggle.
Nearly everything is open to negotiation these days.
    Good Luck

I would say that Anthony Ryans is probably your best bet. They have a large range of suits and shirts, and the guys in there should off you good advice.
Louis Copeland have very nice suits, but are probably above your price range.
I have never been to the suit shop in Briarhill.

Copeland sale was 70% off so you could find something there. The guy fitted me in a non-sale suit for 550, was very nice but not worth 550 imo.
Had a look in Burton and saw a good suit for 150 so it's def worth shopping around.
    I'm still looking :)

    Are you male or female?

I got my last job-interview suit in Next (in the UK though).

I was in town with the missus last week. While she was trying on some clothes in m&s I had a browse in the men dept. There were some fine suits on display for 100 euro. Looked great I said next time I need a suit I def go in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

    M&S has a 3-button suit apparently.
Nice, I'm old school like that.

Got one for 200 euro in Ryans, they're having a stock clearance sale but then again aren't they all, 250 with shirt & tie..very snappy I must say.

I've a question that hopefully someone might be able to help me with. I have a couple of suits but have recently lost a lot of weight and so they don't fit me. They're good quality thou and I'm loathed to just get rid of them. Can they be altered and any idea how much this would cost. I have a problem that i'm an odd suit sizes, tall with large chest and shoulders, thin waste and short legs so buying a new suit, especially cheaper ones, is difficult and money is tight.

You can ask a few tailors for advice about altering the suits.

I know its a late post but im new here and was just snooping around when i saw this.
I was out in the shop in Briarhill last week and picked up a really nice suit for E169. He said he'd have more new stock (i think its under new management) in this week so went out this morning and eyed up another suit for work and bought a few shirts... Good service and he even threw in a tie... sound fella!!
Hope thats of use to people in the future!!

Hey, need to get a suit for an upcoming wedding and also a suit for work. Can anyone recommend? I know Anthony Ryan's and Hanley's and have bought a suit in Geraghty's (quite nice).

Any recommendation? Any specials on at the moment? What do you all think of Debenham's/River Island/M&S suits?

    Hi Mark,
Sorry I dont use this often but your message came up in my inbox. Im not from Galway so im not really familiar with some of the shops there but since my last(and first) post :D, ive been back up to the Suit Retail Company in Briarhill a few times since. I couldnt remember the name the last time I posted. Im a rep, and im on the road all the time and my mate recommended this shop. I tried it out and now I buy all my work suits and shirts there and theres a great selection of wedding 3 pieces which I love wearing (makes a change from the work suits!!)...very smart!! :D
Anyway I hope that helps.... and if you have a bit of banter and craic with your man and a cheeky request of a discount you'll def get something knocked off!!haha
By the way, my Da bought a suit out of Debenhams and lets just say he wasnt to pleased after a few wedding wears!!

I bought a suit in the Suit Retail company and I thought it was of very poor quality.

I wouldn't buy from there again.

    PM stands for PRIVATE message.

The clue is in the title.
Still don't believe you as I have bought a suit there and it was terrible in my opinion.
