The Irish Powerkite and Sandyacht Association is holding its first ever gathering on Streedagh Strand, Grange Co.Sligo this coming weekend. This event is being held with the kind permission of Sligo County Council.

KiteBuggy and Sandyacht racing is the best fun you can have on a beach with just the power of the wind behind you, no noise, no pollution, only powered by the wind and our official sponsors Hunky Dorys.

There is very good wind forecast for the weekend so if anyone fancies a go on a kitebuggy or Sandyacht drop down and say hello. Day memebrship is available on Saturday for €15 which cover tuition, equipment and Insurance. Sunday will hopefully be the national fleet racing which is well worth seeing.

With the wind forecast its sure to be a great event and wheather you fancy having a go or just coming down to take some good action photos everyone is welcome.

Many thanks to Sligo County Council and the good people of Sligo for the welcome we received over the weekend, the conditions were fantastic and you have some of the best beaches in the country.

Hopefully we'll be back next season

    .....

was down on Saturday afternoon, conditions were good and while it was the kitepower i had gone to see - it was the yachts that really impressed me with their speed and agility... also like the fact that there does not seem to be an age limit on this kind of fun:).

will def be on Murvagh for the next session.
    cheers

    Hi Dardvle,

Saturday was a bit messy with the wind from a kite poin of view, very gusty coming over the dunes.

Sunday was wild, we ended up have a kite in the air for about 5mins and then spent the rest of the day racing the miniyachts. 4 races were completed in testing conditions, as you said, all ages are equal on the mini yachts, thats the fun of it.

I'll keep posting on boards.ie about future events and off course at www.ipksa.info
