I've just been reading the new procedures for Whole School Evaluations. This information was published on the Department of Education and Skills website today. The inspection will now be shorter, but there are other changes. Questionnaires will be issued to students and parents. It seems that a scoring system will be used in the report. This will range from 4 for schools which have "significant strengths" to 1 for schools that have "significant weaknesses". Has anybody experienced this new style of inspection? It has recently been piloted in a number of schools as far as I know.

Yeah, the pilot scheme has been used in a few schools. The questionnaires are issued to the students and parents of 2 different year groups. The questions deal with issues such as whether parents/students are included in decision making and whether or not the parents think the students get enough homework.

Tbh like all inspections there is still a huge amount of paperwork involved but I think that the results have generally been positive. It's a bit of a rushed experience really.

The other thing is that the reports from the pilot scheme will not be published online.
