Quite simply, where is the most romantic place in Ireland to propose?

Ps - a view of the sea would be the icing on the wedding cake!

Cliffs of Moher likely to be over-run by tourists-and be damn windy!!

What about the Castlemartyr Resort(now part of Dromoland group), they have a horse and trap to take you out around the estate.

How about up in Howth? There's a lovely walk up to the hill top there and you're at the top of the cliff with just the sea beneath ya!

There's a beach in North Donegal called Portsalon beach - 2 miles of soft gold white sand. Gorgeous place and very quiet. Was voted one of the top beaches in the world a few years ago but yet most people don't know of it. Also, as you travel up the road from it, up a hill, the views over the beach are fantastic.

Or Glenveagh Castle (Donegal again) - my fiance chose there - fantastic views over the lake.

Best of luck choosing your location. It's important as it will bring back all those memories.

Keem Bay in Achill Island is amazing, and the drive to the beach is breathtaking along the edge of the atlantic coast and the seas are sky blue. Good luck!

Thanks guys for those great suggestions-if you've any more keep em coming-not planning on doing the deed for a few months but it will take me that long to plan a proposal to blow her socks off! Was thinking of factoring a meal in Nevin Maguires restaurant somewhere in the weekend so if there was somewhere in Sligo or somewhere in that general vacinity then that would be a bonus.

Enniscrone beach in that case if you are thinking Sligo, I love it there.

Could make a night of it, make sure you try the seaweed baths!

Oooohh I can really really really recommend that restaurant... we've been going since we were kids and his dad owned it. It's still just as homely and lovely. About 20 minute drive away though, you have the Shannon pot in Glangevlin in Cavan... gorgeous wild secluded scenery where the shannon rises.. just do a google image search
