Im insured with Quinn Direct but does anyone know how long they will take to pay out for it and how much they give? I need a car for work so I dont know whether to try buy a new one now or wait till they pay out but I cant wait too long!

    It was a 1994 Toyota MR2, I miss it!

OP be careful, we had a man phoning us the other week, he had a mazda 323 stole and the guards found a burnt out shell in darndale. when he went to see was it his own car someone had lifted it, presumably to sell as scrap (highly illegal, but thats for another thread) He was phoning around to see if anyone had come across it. Long story short, the insurance was starting to back out saying they had no proof the car had been burnt out as the guards hadnt taken the chassis number or taken photos. Id advise you to go and take photos of the car as is, and the vin plate if you can, before its lifted. Hopefully this wont be necessary and the guards have lifted it to a secure compound though.

Shouldn't really make a difference whether it's been stolen or burnt out so long as your insurance covers fire & theft. Although I can see Quinn getting sticky that you've "changed" your story and are claiming for theft instead of fire when the car's remains are stolen.

    OP if feel your pain.

2 cars in less than 10months last year.
First one same as yours , went to claim , and Quinn crushed me .
They value the car way below what every you have insured it for and then you spend a few days proving its worth more , then the offer you. A slightly higher figure.
So for the first car in the end I put a stop on the claim and just replace the car at my cost. it got dragged out too long and I got more annoy as it went on.

Car 2 was found in repairable condition so I have gone that rout this time.and the insurance is covering it. And I seem to have got much better support from Quinn with this time around.

Get as many For sale adds as you can for the same spec car you insured and make sure they are close too what you had valued the car @.They will question everything including mileage
    for example http://www.carzone.ie/search/Toyota/MR2/201036199443517/advert?channel=CARS.

I had too do this i think I gave 10 examples with the first car . Still got very low value. eventually I gave up.

    Best of luck

Thanks guys, some good advice there which i will follow.

Joeface, you said your first claim was dragged out too long, what time frame are you taking about? Months?

Well the car was stolen end of feb , By April I was still been low balled with the figure for the car and with all the over and back I would say it was 2months + before I decide it was time too pull the plug and walk away from claiming.I needed a car and it was quicker get a small loan that get money from quinn

If I had been more prepared for what was needed it might have been quicker.

This time has been much quicker , Car is almost finished been repaired and Quinn have already paid out. Stolen last day of december , Claim put in on the 5th of jan , approved before the end of the month .
