I was just wondering my car is a `99 and when i passed the nct on december 09 i got it till january 11 when i asked why is that they said cars over 10 years have to do it every year but my friend drives a `94 and his nct is for solid 2 years why is that?

Maybe his car was tested before new regulations came in....

    EDIT:
Sorry. Did little browsing, and it looks that new regulation only will apply from 1st June 2011.
So your car should get it's NCT for 2 years.

When was the last NCT due?

    BTW.
    How to understand this regulation:
    (2) The test due dates for a vehicle mentioned in paragraph (1) are:

    (a) from the commencement of these Regulations until 31 May 2011, the anniversary dates mentioned in paragraph (1) and each subsequent biennial of those dates, and

    (b) from 1 June 2011, the anniversary dates mentioned in paragraph (1) and—

    (i) from the tenth anniversary of first registration of the vehicle, each subsequent anniversary of those dates, and

(ii) in any other case, each subsequent biennial of those dates.

I have a 01 car, where NCT is due on 27th November 2011.
If I test it before (let's say in October 2011) will I get full 2 years test, as during test car was not 10 years old yet?

Not at all , no. If your car was bought in Jan 99, the NCT was due Jan 09 and the next one is due Jan 11. When you choose to do the NCT between Oct 08 and Oct 10 is irellevant, your NCT will still be due again in Jan 11.

Doesn't matter, its NCT date is always tied to its registration date, not when you decide to NCT it.

    EDIT: Read that wrong
