From what i can gather with an upgrade on o2 a 16GB is €199 and a 32GB is €299. do people think the prices will drop over the summer especially with talks of an Iphone 5 coming out . would like to get the 32GB but not at that price

Based on what normally happens, the price will drop when the iPhone 5 is released, but there won't be a 32GB option on the iPhone 4 at that stage, it will only have an 8GB option (or maybe a 16GB option if there is a bump across the board).

The iPhone generally only drops in price after a new version comes out. It's the way they structure their pricing. They don't drop the prices as we approach a new release.

We'd expect an iPhone 5 release in August. Chances are Apple are going to discontinue the 3GS 8GB in the next few weeks in order to clear out stocks by the summer.

The iPhone 4 16GB and 32GB will remain at the same price points until the iPhone 5 is released at the start of July.

Then I would expect the iP5 to have 32GB and 64GB variants at roughly €200 and €300 prices on billpay plans (€550 and €700 simfree). They will probably continue to sell the iP4 16GB for around €120. They won't have a 32GB on the iP4 so as to avoid "competing" with the iP5.

is that confirmed that there is going to be a 64GB iP5. it would be great if it was. would €300 be the cost including a upgrade

Nothing is confirmed, nor will it be until Apple announce it (usually in early/mid June). It is a good bet though as 64GB can now be fitted into the same space as 32GB previously.

As said nothing is confirmed, nobody but Apple knows what is coming or what the prices may be.

We can only speculate based on prices and specs at previous iPhone launches. It'll typically be around €300 for upgrade or new customers on the cheapest monthly plan.

64GB is the absolute minimum memory that the next iPhone must have to keep ahead of the curve. I was a bit surprised that the iP4 only had 32GB tbh.

That would be my guess too, iP5 will be mostly "under the hood" stuff. It won't be the 4S, they only used the "3GS" thing to re-align the numbering system.

Early indications for iP5 are perhaps a slightly bigger screen (4 inches over 3.5 inches), a dual -core processor and more storage.

Or cloud based storage and a reduction from 32GB

Never thought of that. Not so sure we're at that stage yet; if each iPhone had (say) 60GB of cloud-based storage on top of 16GB onboard storage, then you would need to "prioritise" the media that you need most instantly. We could perhaps handle having to wait to view our photos or our app data. But if we're watching a movie or listening to music, people won't tolerate the device buffering and especially won't tolerate their media being unavailable when they're out of coverage.

That said, I believe the introduction of the iPhone has forced all operators to make huge improvement to their 3G infrastructure and data speeds.
