Tails 'n' Trails Dog adventure Club, in conjunction with Best for my Dog are holding a rally on the weekend of 5th/6th March 2011 at Lough Key Forest Park, Co. Roscommon.

    Classes will be:

1 dog - on a scooter or freight breed on a rig
2 dog - on a scooter or rig
    3/4 dog - on a rig
    Bikejoring
    canicross

Junior2 - 8-11 years old, one dog only on a scooter and canicross
Junior1 - 12-15 years old, one or two dogs on a scooter/rig and canicross.

Each dog can be entered in a maximum of 2 classes.
All dogs must be a minimum of 12 months old on 5th March.
All juniors must be accompanied by an adult cycling behind them - please do not cycle in front of them, as this is pacing, and is unfair to the other competitors.

Entries for the rally will close on February 19th at 11.59pm. To enter please email eventsATtailsandtrails.ie with details of which class you wish to enter, the name of the musher and the dog/s.

There is no entry fee for the race, however you must be a club member for insurance purposes, which is €15 per annum for one person, €25 for a couple, €30 for a family. The usual TnT meet fee of €5 per membership will apply for the weekend.

This rally cannot run without volunteers, so please indicate when entering if you are willing to assist with marshalling, handling, snubbing, etc. All volunteers will receive a free lunch - tea/coffee and sandwich or soup and sandwich.

We have the use of a campsite, approximately 15-20 minutes drive from the rally site, which is attached to a pub who are willing to put on a mushers banquet and for us to have a function room showing the ceremonial start of the Iditarod race live from Alaska. The pub also has B&B available. The price for the camping and meal is dependent on the numbers, so when entering, please indicate if you would like to camp and join us for the meal on the Saturday evening.

On Sunday 6th March we are having a caniteering event - orienteering with a dog or dogs. We will provide the maps, you do the rest. This will be a timed event and form part of the weekend rally. For those members who want to do things a little bit differently, (or who may be too hungover to run very fast) we will be incorporating an Iditarod themed treasure hunt, to be done at your own pace.

Whilst this is a rally, it is a fun weekend, so come along and enjoy yourselves, most people entering will be novices, so theres no need to worry, it will be a great experience for us all. There will be prizes for each class, but at the end of the day, we will all be taking home the best dog(s)

Spectators are very welcome, as are any offers of help with stewarding etc.
