    I miss old Dublin city
    the Liffey and the Poddle
the smell of stout round James street
    the taste of Dublin coddle
the shouts you hear in Moore street
as the women sell their fruit
    the crowds round Cleary,s windows
at the sale of 2 pound suits

    The grandeur of Trinity college
and the bank accross the road
the paper boy shouting Heraldy Mail
as he struggles with his load
    to walk pass Dublin castle
and wave in at Sean T
I always thought he lived in there
someone always waved back at me

Around Christ Church and into Patrick street
You,d see a kid there with a hoop
    lashing for the Bayno
to get his bowl of soup
    then ramble into Patricks park
with the fountain in the middle
where some have come to catch the sun
    and others for a piddle

then quing up at Jacobs mid the pushing and the poking
to get your bag of biscuits of course they,d all be broken
rushing home to get your tea still munching on cream crackers
but oh to soon you,d reach the coombe and the smell of Keefes the Knackers
the grand canal see all the kids with their fishing nets in hand
sure to us that was the seaside though there was,nt any sand
ah maybe I,m just been foolish when I think of things I did
but me heart,s still back in Dublin when I was just a kid
