Hi. If I bought the service parts(Oil filter, Oil, Air filter etc) and gave them to the mechanic to use on my car. Would this bring down the cost of a service?

Ummm .... yeah!

However, most mechanics don't like this as often times the wrong parts are bought and the customer is not willing to pay for the extra labour or inconvenience incurred by the mechanic when this happens.

yes it will, that is the way i do it and its the only way u can guarantee that quality parts and oil go into your car and not cheap crap.

How much should should a service come down to with buying these items?
Also where is a good place to buy parts? Online?

i cant say i've bought the parts online but any good motor factors will advise you, my mechanic will go an oil filter,air filter and oil change for 30 euro when i supply, otherwise its 150
