My friend, not me btw, is considering getting a tattoo but has high blood pressure and is worried that it may cause excessive bleeding. Is this the case or is it just that some people are bleeders and some are not?

If his blood pressure is high enough to cause excessive bleeding then he should be on medication to stabilize the condition. Either way, he should inform the artist as the act of tattooing can alter the blood pressure, although it is most common for the blood pressure to be reduced as a result of the mild state of shock that the body can enter.

as pierced off said raised BP wont make you bleed more, it's to do with the blood in veins and arteries, not really the capillaries under the skin.. yes, if the body goes into a mild state of shock the BP might drop but if your mate is breath holding and a method of coping with pain the BP will shoot up..

have they been tattooed before? are they good with the pain/sensation? will they be there alone?
