    Why do Irish players wear Red scrum caps ?

    It may be that alright, or is it that they want to been seen clearly by everybody including the Ref.

    Dont often see them being worn TBH in fact they are as rare as hens teeth.

    Rory Best might well have wore it because it's the Ulster colours (it was Red and White).

    Leamy the same I guess.

    Dont see a problem with that.

    He wears a white one and I find it very annoying as I confuse it for the ball sometimes, especially, if someone pulls it off in the middle of a ruck/maul and flings it out the side, it looks like the ball has squirted out of the ruck/maul.

    I remember when I played, Red Scrum caps (no matter what shade of red) were not allowed by Leinster Branch, this was purely precautionary in case the player got a serious blood/head injury.
