I doubt anyone would go to the trouble of converting it, and then leave the 1.6 engine in it. Mistaken/deluded owner I'd say. There was rumours that there was going to be an AWD version way back in the mid-nineties but nothing ever came of it.

    There is a 4wd Integra. http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/11804/

In this case id say the owner is incorrect and it must be a typo

There were a limited number of 4WD Intergras made, badged Xi. This is probably one of them. 4D, and I think all were automatic.

There were also a number of 4WD Civics made.

    Neither were performance models.

Also this: "it needs a new front tyre. It will pass the NCT with a new tyre, I have the documentation that says so."
What documentation is this? A NCT report with just a fail for that tyre?

They did make it ;) , honda tends to make 4wd drive models of their cars for the higher mountain areas in japan, they tend to be made in very small amounts
