Hi guys, its interesting reading through investment threads.
Im trying to educate myself on these issues. I'm interested to get peoples thoughts on how to maximise a return on an investment of €40k. I guess Id be willing to keep 75% relatively risk free but wouldn't have a problem with 25% into riskier options. Any thoughts or advice really appreciated.
    Thx for any feedback

In general, the more risk you take on the more likelihood of higher returns and bigger losses.

So in decreasing order of risk, some potential investments would be

    1. Property investments in Iraq
    2. Small-cap shares (oil companies, start-ups, Irish banks etc)
    3. Mid-cap shares
    4. Bluechip (large) shares
    5. Global Index funds (with some exceptions)
    6. Bonds
    7. Deposit accounts
    8. Money stored under your bed

You'll probably want to mix and match some of the above. Personally I'm a fan of index funds (e.g. ETFs), but that might still be higher risk than you are willing to take on.
