Heya, i have a 32 bit version of windows vista i think. At christmas i got a virus called antivirus 8 and i got rid of it using malwarebytes. Last week i upgraded my computer with eight important updates including windows vista update. After that my laptop crashed and when i turned it back on it said the computer could not be started up because of a corrupted or missing system registry file. I inserted the reinstallation dvd for windows vista home basic and tried to repair the computer using that. After ten attempts at trying to repair the computer i tried to reintall the whole operating system for dell and i thought it was working but it froze after five hours on setting up personal settings. I tried reinstalling it once more and now i can only boot in safe mode and i cannot access the start menu as a message saying windows explorer has stopped working pops up. Ctrl-alt-delete does not work. When i view problem details for windows explorer it says ; problem event name: in page error. Error status code: c0000185. Faulting media type: 00000003. OS version 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.2. If anyone has ideas about what i can do to save my laptop id be really grateful because i am a student and i really need the laptop for this semester as it is final semester for my degree and i do not have the money to buy a new one nevermind pay someone to repair it. Also i do not have a warranty on it as my college gave it to me for free as new.
