    Hi folks,

Just looking for a couple of opinions here!
    Have a 04 1.9tdi A3 with 102,000 miles on the clock.

Theres a few bits tha need doing to the car...all in all, about €1500-€1700 worth of work.

None of the work is needed right away, just a couple of small issues that need to be rectified over the next few months.

I'm just wondering would people be happy to put that kinda money into a car thats only worth about 7k?

I really like that car, it looks great, well specced etc, and would be happy to keep it...I just wonder if I'm better putting cash into something with less mileage?

    Cheers!

There is no guarantee that you will not have to spend money on a newer car either.

BTW are 03 A3 TDis making €7k, sounds like crazy money for an 8 year old small diesel car?

    its 2004

And that was what an Audi dealer suggested when I spoke about the possibility of changing. He offered me a trade of 6k, but said I'd get 7.5k easily if I sold it privately.
There's 7 of 'em on carzone atm...the avg price is actually around 8500 from dealers.

If you like it then spend the money - you'll have a car you know and like for less than the cost of changing.

    - One of the diesel injectors needs to be replaced
    - Clutch starting to slip(could be good for 5000 miles, could be good for 500,
    but definite signs of wear.)
    - Needs new wishbone, Passenger side (Thank you Irish potholed roads)
    - Wheel bearing starting to cause lots of road noise
    - mention of bushes in suspension starting to show signs of wear.

The guy I got this info off is a well trusted family friend with successful independent garage. None of the usual "ah your cars in bits buddy". So I trust his judgement.

And again, things that can be done over a number of months!
