With a €1000 car there is no point in going for one based on it's reputation as a brand/make. You need to judge each car on it's own merits. IE, you could spend €1000 on a Toyota that could be a bucket of crap or spend €1000 on a Rover that is minter. It totally depends on the car itself not the reputation the make or model has.

If I had a grand to spend on a car it would most definately be jap car. Toyota/Honda/Mazda most likely.

I know what the other poster is sayin in so far as it depends on the car but at the same time I'd have more faith in a €1000 jap car than anything else.

Obviously get it checked out before purchase and try get one with a long NCT.

Id get a Toyota Avensis or Corolla.
You could also consider an Opel Astra or a Mk1 or if your lucky mk2 focus, Honda Civics are reliable too, but even the 1.4's tend to have a premium on them compared to comparable cars when it comes to insurance.

    Have a look on www.donedeal.ie or Adverts.ie
