We seem to have the highest number of candidates at 24

Fine Gael: Andrew Doyle, Simon Harris and Billy Timmins

Fianna Fail: Pat Fitzgerald and Dick Roche

Green party: Niall Byrne

Labour: Anne Ferris, Tom Fortune and Conal Kavanagh

Sinn Fein: John Brady

Independent: Joe Behan, Thomas Clarke, Peter Dempsey, Stephen Donnelly, Michael Mulvihill, Robert Kearns, Kevin Carroll, Jim Tallon, Eugene Finnigan, Charlie Keddy, Nicky Kelly, Anthony Fitzgerald and Donal Kiernan

Fis Nua: Pat Kavanagh, Gerry Kinsella

You forgot the Fine Gael candidates...(Oh you've added them now-edit)

Anyhow I expect 2 FG and possibly a third with young Simon Harris or Stephen Donnelly,the greystones advocate of David McWilliams/Shane Ross ideas etc,as he comes across well, one labour and then a humoungus scrap for the last seat between Roche,Brady[SF] and a 2nd labour candidate.

FF's strategy of running Pat "do anything if ya vote for me" Fitzgerald from arklow possibly bringing Roche over the line when Fitzgerald is eliminated.
Mind you I've heard a lot of Arklow people [4000 signing on at the local register] who voted Fitz in '07 won't be doing so this time so that plan may backfire... Arklow people aren't total eejits

I've had 2 canvassers call to my door, (although it could be 3 if I'm to believe Mr. Harris' "sorry I missed you leaflet")

Last weekend I got a canvasser from Tom Fortune's campaign. So I got my list of questions and picked one at random. Does your candidate support the seperation of church and state? I'm not sure was the reply. Well do you not think it's important? said I. Why yes, yes it is. he said. Why don't I get Tom to call to you? PLease do, said I. He'll be around to you before the night is out.


I'm still waiting.

AT 8:35 last night 2 women called. Good evening, would you consider voting for Joe Behan Independant? Who? says I. Joe Behan Independant TD for Wicklow. Oh, says I, you mean Joe Behan Fianna Fail? No says they, he's independant. Ah go away!, he's the same gene pool as all FFErs says I. It's gone half 8 and I'm putting the kids to bed. Joe Behan independant me arse, says I as I shut the door. (shut not slam!)

You's should down load each parties manifestos and go through them , then you know where to hit them when they hit the door, so far 1 group have canvassed and most likely they will be getting my vote because I think they are the most forward looking group and god help FF if they come near the door today they will be giving the riot act!
