Hi , for the last 2 days I have failed to start my van. There is plenty battery charge , half tank of diesel . The only thing is that the glow plug light takes a while to go off (but would still start all along). The van started with a tow yesterday , and when it the engine warmed up it would start again no problem. any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

Not to familiar with these engines but i wonder is there diesel leaking back to the tank during the night....
Is there a hand primer so you could pump up fuel pressure to the pump supply which may help with the cold starting...??

Sounds like you need new glow plugs. about 15euro each i think.

As Mr.Boots has said if its the older idi diesel then the glow plugs play a vital part when starting the engine...if you can get to your glow plugs remove the
supply cable....take a + feed from the battery and tip off the top of each plug..if you see a spark then that plug is fine....its always best to replace all glowplugs if some have failed.....:)
    Best of luck.

You can test a Glow plug by putting a + feed onto the top of the plug (with the feed cable disconnected) they should spark to confirm that the plug is working correctly and its not open circuit...;)

if kinvara64 has a multimeter then he can also check the resistance (ohms)]
    accross the plug....:)
    This may help to explain...
