Going to give this a go also however it looks dam tough for the first Audax of 2011.
Anyone know if the routesheet is available yet or is the map on the Audax site an accurate representation of it?

It has got a few tough climbs one after the other but don't worry its doable. I haven't done much in past while so I should be around the back of the field for most of this, when I catch you, then its time to worry :D

The routesheet seems to be spot on http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=90841 put together by RottenHat AFAIK

That map should be more or less correct - I can't remember if those are 100% the correct roads between Knockananna and Aghavanna but they're true to the spirit of it.

Oh, and it is damn tough for a season starter...I'd probably still do it if I wasn't working on Saturday, but I'm not exactly upset about missing it either.

I think I'm free now for this and the weather looks good so should see you there. Haven't been out much in the last few months but there is always the bail out option to give Sally Gap a skip on the way back if the legs aren't up to it.

    Chickens :P

My knee has been a bit out of joint for the past month (alright now), so not as much prepared for this as I would like but then again, I'm never prepared. I think a day of spinning in the middle is called for.

Looking forward to it even if I am slightly worried about my competency at the minute.

That was one tough cycle, got to be one of the toughest 200k in Ireland without resorting to sometime like numerous hill repeats of the devils glen.

12hrs out on the road with a rolling time of 9:38 for me and 3007m total ascent. For the most part it was a nice day weather wise although quite a stiff head wind going up the Wicklow Gap and then a few cold showers of rain on the way towards Slieve Maam. Light was fading leaving Laragh towards the Sally Gap and the temperatures really started to drop, total darkness and patches of fog going over the Sally Gap which was quite nice as my first time really cycling on dark country roads. In saying that I did nearly break my wrist on two separate occasions on the descent from Glencree to Enniskerry, christ that road is a disgrace and pretty dangerous.

Fairly wrecked last night after it but a good sense of achievement as only my second Audax. Not too bad today stiffness wise although the wrist is fairly tender, don't know how the tyre and wheel held up but thankful it got me through.
