I don't think so. I think Spain are using MPEG-2, I'm open to correction though.

    They don't use MHEG5.

Look, there are as many if not MORE Digital variations and standards today as there were Analogue from 1970 till now. In Analogue era few shops would have been stupid enough to sell a UHF only tuner UK set here, never mind USA or French sets that didn't work at all here, or German ones with no sound.

Now the shops are full of junk that's even obsolete in UK, while in many cases the UK branches sell "Freeview HD" stuff that does work here, but won't sell it here.

It's bad enough without people looking for stuff to import that's not intended for Irish Market.

It's simple. If it's sold with "Compatible for Irish Digital TV" or "Saorview" Logo legally on it, it will work. If it doesn't then you get 100% refund.

If you want to buy random foreign market stuff, then either be an expert at specifications or don't ask :(

The specs are bottom of this page. If a box or TV does them, then it's OK. Otherwise why risk it?

That link is out of date since early Nov, but still available and not updated.
