so I've got a mid 2009 iMac 24" running 10.6.6 and mac mini 10.6.6 and both are refusing to burn tracks to cd for me

has there been faults in these products?

should I call Cork or the shop I got them in?

iMac is 17 months old and mac mini is only 10 months

What is the exact wording they display in the "refusal"?
What burn software are you using?
    What discs are you using?

Could be poor burning software, bad media (discs), drive needs firmware update (No idea if Macs allow firmware updates) or drive is broken, when you say it refuses to burn tracks, is it it starts burning and shows an error? Try picking up or getting some decent brand media (ie verbatim) and try again, sometimes cheap media can fail mid burn, moreso DVDs than CDs

cheers lads, the problem is no matter what disc I insert it chugs away for 15 - 20 secs until it just spits the cds back out,

it also only plays some burned cds and not others

after doing some googling it turns out theres been a lot of people with the same issues with their 24"

my only worry is not getting satisfaction from the reseller or apple cork

Have you tried downloading and installing the free "Burn" software for OSX?

If the machine won't burn discs, then there's no reason Apple won't repair it under warranty. If the machine is 10 months old, then it's still covered under original warranty. The older one won't be unless you purchased AppleCare.

As others have suggested, I'd try a different brand/batch of discs first though.
