I think I may have asked this before but I cannot find anything with search, so apologies if duplicating.

I want to paint my hall door. It's aluminium with a plastic inset (I think). The sun has caused the inset to fade badly. See image below.

So what do I need here? I will sand both surfaces. Then is there a primer that will do both plastic and aluminium or do I need 2 separate primers? Once primed, I assume one type of paint will cover both surfaces but what type of paint?
