Hi I'm 29 y.o female.I have been on anti depressants for over 2 months now. For Dec I was on 10mg of Citalopram and that dose was increased in mid January to 20 mg. I can feel them kicking in now as last week was a positive one, the best I've felt in ages. However, one of the side effects is weight gain, I weighed myself yest and despite me being on my period I weighed more than I did before or immediately after xmas. I have being going to the gym 5 days a week doing weights and cardio since Jan 12th give or take. so it must be the anti-depressants....I'm going to my gp tomorrow but I cant wait til then to find out if there's an alternative. I've worked really hard to get my weight down and maintain it so I don't think it would be worth it since I would feel p.o if I gained weight.
    Any suggestions? thanks a lot

Not all Anti-depressants cause weight gain. I was on effexor XL and lost over 2 stones without even trying. Weight loss is a side effect of effexor.

Ask the GP about the possibility of switching to something else if the weight really is an issue for you
