3G 3.1.3 iPhone becoming Bane of my existance

Right basically over the last few weld my iPhones been getting throwing a constant hussy fit! It's dropping signal and not getting it back until I turn phone off and on, seems to like reset every so often as in it stalls for lie 15 secs, drops wifi connection and carrier, then comes back, battery lifes dropped a lot and aswell, i've had to hard reset it twice. Anyone have any ideas, should I send it away or update it or? It's jailbroken too aye

Although you may have a hardware faults, you may aswell update to 4.2.1, i done it last night on my 3G, used the new redsn0w 4.2 which lets you keep your jailbreak and unlock.

At least then you can rule out OS problems.

Meteor is my carrier, don't think they're the problem though. right I'll have to set up my old laptop and get updating so! Is the 4.2 jailbreak untethered yeah?

Yep its unthethered, use pwnage tool 4.2 to make a custom .ipsw and use itunes to resorte to it by holding shift and clicking restore and browsing to the custom .ipsw.
