Retrieve Laptop's serial number?

I have a 3 year old laptop. The serial number was printed on the underside but it's long since worn off.

Is there any other way to retrieve the serial number?
Will I have to open it up?

    Many thanks

If the computer still runs (even in safe mode) then try this:

    http://www.magicaljellybean.com/downloads/KeyFinderInstaller.exe

This will list most keys on your computer, most importantly, Windows.

Otherwise, if it wont boot into windows, I don't know...

KeyFinderInstaller.exe ????? What is that ? What does it do? Is it clean, spyware? adware? If the serial number is available to a software utility then it might be available to windows without having to install anything.

The laptop runs great, I'm using it to write this. I have win7 64biit on it.
