Broke the glass on my drivers side rear light (2010 Qashqai). Lights all still work.

I know damn-all about cars. Do I need to replace whole light or just the cover?

I'd say you will have to buy a new unit.

Just in case you missed my dismantler advice above. If you can find a s/h unit, it should only cost 50% of the new price. As most vehicles suffer front-end damage in a crash, you could find one easily enough.

Still cheaper than the main dealer I would think, the only thing is some of those spurious lamps don't look or fit quit as well as the original and the op said its a 2010 registered car he might want to keep the car looking original.

most spurious one or fairly decent usually a recognisable brand name

Just remember that the Qashqai got a facelift in early 2010 which included redesigned rear light cluster. Make sure if buying online or from a scrap yard that you get the correct one.

He'd be better off going for an OEM part imo. OEM parts are made by the same manufacturer as the Nissan ones to the same standard and are even accepted for warranty work. Spurious parts may be cheaper but there is no guarantee they will fit and perform as well as OEM or Originals, there may also be some slight cosmetic differences.

    Beautiful.

Main Nissan dealer charging £62+VAT for the replacement, to be refitted as part of first service next Monday (£125).

Thanks for all your help guys.
