Just came across a 08 D white transit van parked at the side of the road coming into to Tralee from the Castleisland-Killarney road right outside the ford garage on you right coming in. It is a speed camera not one of the private ran ones but a offical garda one no markings noting standing out to let you know its one. I slowed right down to take a look and pretended to turn into the ford garage to take a good luck and there it was camera in the right small window on the back of it and a flash on the left and in the front there was also a camera and flash. This is my first time seeing one of these in kerry area.

    They've been around for years.

They were always on the dual carriageway beside Cheverstown.

Thats another one of their purely money making spots. They catch people speeding up to the 100km before they should. In my 20 years living in tralee I never heard of an accident there

Another case of government shooting fish in the barrell.

There's a long 13m wide stretch of road on the way into the roundabout at the Renault/Ford Garrages/turn-off for Manor West/Mile Height etc.

The limit for the approach is initally 100kmph then goes to 60kmph for the stretch towards the roundabout. But it's a very long stretch between the sign and the roundabount and has all of the signs of a limit being placed there purely for the purpose of wasting peoples time.

No need for that limit at that early stage.

I'm against limits by the way.

Hmmm, what with two whole exclamation marks, I was hoping to see something flashy dressed in Garda livery, but instead disappointment prevails.

Well if you have 400 of them, and are all packed in under a bonnet, then maybe.

Not Kerry, but presume it's a similar example.

Speaking of new Garda vehicles, I saw what looked like a Punto (dark grey) speeding down the southbound side of the M50 at Ballymun with blue lights flashing in the windows on Friday morning??

He didn't seem to be getting very far though - I'm guessing other drivers assuming that it must be some guy taking the piss.

I wonder would that hold up - "yea Judge, I didn't pull over cause sure ya know yourself the Gards only drive Mondeos and Avensis" :p

LOL I remember reading somewhere here of some boys with a Punto going around with a blue light on it.. There actually was a thread on the Emergency services forum about some Polish fella at it in Meath somewhere.

He pulled in some woman and when she questioned his identidy he could hardly speak english...:D

O ya i know that but in kerry in all fairness you have to admit its not something you will see everyday now saying that if they put a sheep on the side of the road with a camera that proberly would be more common lol
