Safe to order from pixmania?

I am buying a camera for about 600 euro and I am wondering is it ok to buy from pixmania these days? My friend bought an ipod off them last year and when it arrived the box was empty...took her ages to get it sorted. Some other people have also warned me to be wary of pixmania. So, what is the deal with them these days, are they safe to buy from?

Jaysus, that is a horror story. I just ordered a Samsung 37" LED last weekend. Now i am a bit nervous. If i knew their base was in France, i would not have gone with them. Pixmania.ie surely should be a Irish base, but no....it's French.

Do a search, awful company. I won't ever give them my money again.

I've bought stuff off them before, always arrived on time. There are a lot of horror stories out there but to be honest, the prices and selection are hard to beat.
    Worth the gamble I'd say.

They are like most online suppliers. They are great until something goes wrong

Here's a link to a Google search about 'problem with Pixmania' and a Boards.ie search about them.

I personally wouldn't recommend them. I bought a laptop from them in 2008, 16months later the HDD failed, Pixmania said there was nothing they could do. I had to the CAI involved and only after the CAI contacted Pixmania did they agree to repair/replace the product and reimburse me the money it cost for an engineers report.

Nearly three weeks ago they sent me a collection label for the laptop and I still haven't received it so I have to contact them about that.

Long story cut short, stay away from them if you can. Their products may be cheaper than other websites, but if you have any problems with any item's you buy from them, the time and hassle you'll (probably) it'll take to get any form of redress from Pixmania isn't worth it.

Better of going with another company who have better reviews and a good customer care service, unlike Pixmania, who have an awful customer care service (in my experience).

And yes, I do understand problems can arise with any company.

Bought a rake of stuff off them in the past. 3 TV's, 3 camera's, a Wii, Controllers, a Phone, and more bits and pieces.

Everything has always arrived perfectly on time. I did forget to de-select their insurance when ordering stuff for chtistmas, but that was the only issue.

Remember, you only ever hear about the bad stories.

Might give Amazon.co.uk a try out next time. I am looking at a Samsung Blu-ray player that is cheapest with them.:)

I bought a camera for 600 Euro from them a month ago and it still hasn't arrived. Apparently it was dispatched a week after I ordered it but the shipping company still has not recieved it. I have tried 4 times to get in contact with them by email. They said my enquiry had been registered and someone would answer me in less than 24 hours but I have yet to receive a response to any of the emails.

I'm going to have to ring them tomorrow to see if I can get any answers. So far a terrible experience.

I had the single worst consumer experience of my life with this company. It seems that the majority of people have an ok experience with them. About 20% of people have a nightmare. It's a numbers game. If you go with them and end up having a mare - don't be surprised! G'luck

Had a nightmare with them about 3 years back, ordered a camera worth €300, never arrived, spoke to someone in customer services and he advised me it was probably robbed from the DHL warehouse, as it regularly happens with cameras, couldn't believe he admitted that one over the phone:eek: Eventaully got a replacement camera but it took around 2 months! Haven't gone near Pixmania since.

About a year ago I ordered a 32" HD Toshiba TV. I had read some very unsettling reviews about them but went for it as they seemed the cheapest around for what i wanted.

Placed the order on a Tuesday, had my TV by Friday afternoon, so i for one would definately recommend them. One of my mates ordered from them recently from my advice and everything went great with them
