Hi, would anybody have any advice why my dishwasher trips the power everytime I put it on. It is just under a year and a half old. It's a zanussi. I have contacted the shop where it was bought and was told it's not covered by any warranty. Any advise would be very welcome. Thanks.

Is it as soon as you push the on button ??

Water is probably coming into contact with some cables...

Thanks so much for getting back to me. Yes, when it's turned on it trips straight away. That's started to happen the past week. Before that it happened when the wash cycle started. Iv had an electrician look at it and he can't find any problems. Thanks again for your reply.

sparks not very good then - you have a direct short -a component has shorted or something external has caused it to short (maybe water ) its a matter of isolating each componant and locating it ,then rectifying it .can be done with no power ,by reading the wiring diagram, and tracing or doing a short circuit test -

should be basic stuff for an electrician with a multi meter

Initially it sounded like an inrush current problem but if electrician didn't say anything.

peposhi, is yours also a zanussi? What other steps have you taken to try to fix it?

yes, it's Zanussi. Model ZSF 6128.
I checked the heather with a multimeter - 27 Oms and it's the correct one.
The motor - 93 Oms. Here i'm not sure if it's correct.
The pump that drains the water out was 160 Om iirc.
Now - if i disconnect the motor and turn on the dishwasher, it doesn't knock to electricity off. Once connected - boom, electricity's off.
I recon the motor's not OK. I'll double check it with a friend and post what next steps are going to be.

Sorry to hear you got in troubles too... There's a positive note though - your dishwasher worked for at least 3 years and I presume it's been well used with such a big family :)

What I did with mine was:

Disconnected the main circulation pump motor and turned on the machine - all lights as they have to be. Once I connected the pump motor - bang, switch tripped and a spark came out of it. Repeated the steps, the same.
So it's got to be the motor. Checked with one local and one UK sapre parts store - 150 Euro, delivered. So... for now washing dishes by hand :)

I've got the same problem i have a Zanussi. Model ZSF 6128. and it's trips the power i was having a look at it, and when i empty the water where the filter is at the bottom it works but when you knock it on and the water fills up it's trips out ??
Is Zanussi a good make to get if i am getting replacement, its all money, money :(

Folks any number of things can cause them to trip but when the pump is disconnected and it doesn't trip it is this component, some of these have a plastic pipe which goes up the back of the d/w which cracks allowing water to spray back down on the motor, they need to be thoroughly checked for the cause of failure in the first place before a replacement is fitted, no need to spend your money overseas both Quinns and Exsparetise both in Tullamore will quote you and they are on the net. Greendragon yours could be a pcb, loom broken or a blow out where the three core cable is attached to the filter where it enters the machine.

What i did was let it dry out 1st if there water under neath it it will keep tripping out , i then Remove the side off the dishwasher and had a look at the plastic pipe which goes up the back of the dishwasher for cracks.this is the pipe that go's to the upper level spray arm where it screws in to the spray arm my one had a crack in it i was able to fix it but you could need a new pipe that's if you have a crack in it . i did not need to have the dishwasher plug in to the electricity or the water on when i did this hope this helps

What I did was - remove the circulation pump as shown on the picture in the earlier posts, got a lad lad in Bulgaria to rewire/repaire it. Back on place and all fine for the last few years. It costed be 80 bucks including delivery both ways :)
