I didnt get to watch it,but friend of mine did and she said it was a complete lie the way they did it.To give misleading information of people on the dole,as living well.
She said they used the image of someone with four kids on the dole, which is very rare here and compared it with someone who has very low pay in a job.
    Anyone see it?

They're hardly going to compare the dole to someone earning 80k a year are they?

No they compared a woman with four kids on social welfare with someone who was not in the same circumstances. And said she had more.
As i said this girl i know watched it and her Husband who are both workers and said there is no way they could live on her money.

    http://www.tv3.ie/shows.php?request=midweek i cant embed it.

Hahaha wow i just watched that lmao and having family on loan parents, they are taking into context the ones who do get all that extras lol. What a cheap sneaky low blow.To not look at the real figures of the majority, and only use the minority as an example.
I see what she means now.

How is it rare? I know plenty of couples with four kids. The crux of the issue is nobody should be EVER better off being on the dole than working full time.

There is no financial incentitive to go out and work for 7.65 euro an hour. Nobody wants families struggling to survive on the dole but we either raise the minimum wage or cut social welfare. If we increase the minimum wage (which is already too high) then we lose further competitiveness which is not good for the irish economy.

I dont know why they did not just take the example of a person on the minimum wage:

    Per week calculation:
    Employed person on min wage:
    7.65 * 39 = 298.35 after taxes etc

    Unemployed person:
    Job Seekers allowance: 188
    Rent allowance: 122
Medical Card: 10 (very low value guess)
    Plus other allowances.
    Total: 320

This is completely wrong in every way. Job seekers allowance should be 100 per week MAX. e.g.

    Unemployed person:
    Job Seekers allowance: 100
    Rent allowance: 122
Medical Card: 10 (very low value guess)
    Plus other allowances.
    Total: 232

No no one should be better off but most arent better off, only the smart ones who can bounce it and find the loop holes have better lives than those working on the dole.
They are putting the figures and situations together that do not add up and for those working, who have lost their jobs with kids, they dont add up either. They are not looking at from the proper perspective,But in fact putting the figures up to make it look like people who are in majority have less seem like they have more.

Look at my figures for a single person. That is a very basic common situation. Is there anything wrong with my figures?

See this is the thing there is so many different aspects of the social welfare and circumstances there is no way they can compare any one to any other.
They literally have to take a single mother with one kid and a single woman with one kid working etc.. and compare each balance of amount they get.And you will soon see they are not better off. As i said only the scammers.

Mad how they just miss the medical card GP Visit Card

Single Person living alone (up to 65 years) – €276.00

Not all get rent allowance.I think most who havent already moved out and own their own house should not be getting more than a single person who is employed i will agree with that part.

My figures are for the basic situation which I would imagine is the most common situation i.e. single person unemployed vs single person working a minimum wage job. Is it not perfect clear from that the dole is way to high? or can you point out where my simple calculations are incorrect?
