Surely there must be a thread on this already and it is just that I have missed it?

What a record - right up there with everything else she has done, which is saying something as imo she has never released a bad record. Has more of a sinistery-folky feeling that her earlier stuff. The atmosphere feels a bit like White Chalk done with guitars to me.

All and Everyone is just amazing.

It's amazing isn't it. Although I'm not the biggest fan of White Chalk, I must revisit it soon enough.

Getting to see her live in 2 weeks too. Super excited about it now.

I had a couple of listens to it on NPR. I really like it. I was dying to hear what the record sounded like as soon as i heard 'Written On The Forehead' about a month ago.

I'm really excited about this - only just started listening to her last record (the 2009 one with John Parish), I'm always forgetting how awesome she is. I literally don't think she's ever put a foot wrong, and artists who do this, in some ways, don't get the credit they deserve because it's come to be expected of them. Really, REALLY want to see her live, I've put it off for far too long...

'On Battleship Hill' is my favourite song of the year so far. Which is funny because 'On Melancholy Hill' was my favourite track of last year.

This is so true. Even though she has changed her sound a little bit with nearly every album, her consistency is unbelievable. I can't think of another artists you could say the same about: that they are constantly trying something different and always pull it off.

A great, great album. Like the description of it as White Chalk with guitars - although there's not as much high register singing on this one.

Favourite tracks so far are The Last Living Rose and Bitter Branches.

Wish I had working earphones. :(

Must get this album actually, I loved White Chalk much more than her other albums that I own (Dry, Stories.., Uh Huh Her), all of which I don't really rate as great albums. (They contain some great songs but I don't really go back to them much - might need to give them more time).

Im not a huge but fan i love her new album, her best yet imo(of the few ive heard at least)its always great to see an artist pushing themselves and their audience......successfully:D

+1, I've enjoyed some of her previous albums but this one is much better than anything she's done before - who'd have thought an album of jaunty folk music about the slaughter of WW1 would be such a winner?...

Great album, just noticed there that In The Dark Places has a very similar chord progression to There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.

Ok its brilliant. This record has such an atmosphere. Spent the last while listening to the new Radiohead album and i went back to 'Let England Shake' today. It was so refreshing and even though its only February i can't see this album not being in my top 5 by the end of the year:D

i love almost everything she's ever done, but nothing touches "Rid Of Me" album, it's her masterpiece. I've seen every tour she's done since 1993, and seeing her on that tour in NYC was beyond incredible, just pure raw energy, it was one of those shows where the crowd left in complete silence, nothing to say, just blown away at what they just saw.
    genius....

I can't stop listening to it. It gets better and better. I love the texture, the subtle brass and the cool vocal samples. Hope she plays over here soon!

Really strong album, although that said she's never made one that was less than very good.

Stunning album! So much depth.. I keep discovering some amazing new detail every time I spin it. Strangely, a lot of reviews seem to say it's a really heavy, challenging album that's difficult to get through.. I don't find that at all. Sure, the subject matter's pretty bleak, but the album still has an uplifting vibe, no?

This is a brilliant album. I cant stop listening to it the last two weeks. Keep discovering something new every listen. The only other PJ Harvey album i have listened to is 'Stories...' and that is class too. I must get involved with her earlier stuff.

My fav track is 'The words that makith murder' I love the refrain in the song, 'What if I take my problems to the United Nations' - pure genius.
