Neither, yaris uses not-very-smooth clutchless manual multimode gearbox, think corsa does too.

I am not car mad but recently when looking for a new car i was advised by my mechanic to stay away from Corsa's after 2006 because the exhaust cat converter is all one so if you need to change the exhaust you will need to change the converter and this will set you back 700 euro.

Perhaps someone more mechanical on this site could confirm that for you

Had many a driving lesson in an 07 Corsa and passed my driving test in one but would not recommend.

Lots of bodyroll, felt like it was going to get blown away in a crosswind. Also very sensitive brakes. And not just because it was a new car.

Probably better off with the DSG auto box in the Skoda Fabia.

i know this is of no relevance seeing as your buying an auto, but it speaks volumes about the cars build quality, but my dad bought a corsa new in 2008, and since then its spent most of the time back at the dealership

its had 2 clutch kits under warranty
its had a new flywheel fitted under warranty
2 sets of front brake discs and 3 sets of pads under warranty
a new drivers seat belt buckle under warranty
a new heated rear windscreen under warranty

he only traded it in last week, and just as the deal was done, the adjustment for the headights decided to stop working.

the car was a total and utter shed! i know clutch kits and brake pads are wear and tear items, this makes them very hard to claim under warranty, but to say he got 2 of each says something about the car.

it had only covered around 35,000kms too.

opel even offered a 2k discount off buying a new car because his one was back in the dealers so often. he bought a polo instead.

wouldnt recommend one to my worst enemy.

A Hyundai i20 automatic would be worth a look.

A Clio might be worth looking at too:

Not really much choice in supermini autos in this country. Most used one would be ex rentals I would imagine.

You may be wrong on the corsa. A disabled driver I know has one, and it is fully automatic (as in put in it Drive).

OP: He's trading it in in about 3 or 4 weeks. 5 door, black, vgc, less than 30k on it. If you're interested, I could find out what dealership he's using.
