VEC student grants

I'm a mature student, receiving BTEA, & I have a place in Social Work for this September. I've just filled in the forms for the VEC grant, as I'm not eligible for free fees. I wonder if they'll go off the 2009 or 2010 tax year? My partner earned a lot more in 2010 than 2009 - even though we never saw it as he was taxed so much!

It'll be based entirely on your income for 2010.
    From studentfinance.ie:
Documents detailing income generally relate to the previous year: e.g. if you are applying for a student grant for 2010-11, you will be asked for a P60 for the year 2009.
    But you're applying for a 2011-12 grant so it'd be 2010.

Are the grant forms for this year even out yet? I think it was May last year that they came out. There was some changes to the grant in December's budget so it might be a bit different. Also, if you're attending UCC wouldn't you have to apply to your local authority rather than the VEC?

You might get some better responses in the student finances forum.
