I hope it's Bertie Basset you're talking about OP.

Why waste money on a statue?

Just tie the bastard to the Spike and let people defecate on him. It would be payback for all the time he did the same to the Irish people

What is with calling that utter abomination of a man Bertie? Like we all knew him by his first name? Appearing on the Premiership talking about his beloved United, in his wellies at the floods in Dublin a few years ago, watching the 'dubs. Media shíte. As big a shyster as ever put on a pair of trousers.

A statue of the most corrupt Irish polititian, next to Charles Haughey? Stop trolling.

Questions were raised about IR£50,000 (€63,300) which Bertie had lodged to his bank account in 1994. He claimed this was money he had saved over a substantial period of time (1987–1994) when he had had no active bank account.

During this period he was Minister for Labour and subsequently Minister for Finance.

He was asked by the leader of the Labour party, Pat Rabbitte whether, in the absence of a bank account, he had kept the money in a 'sock in the hot-press' and by Joe Higgins, the leader of the Socialist Party if he had kept the money 'in a shoe-box'.

Ahern replied that he had kept the money 'in his own possession'.

What a fúcking corrupt thief Ahern is. This man should be in jail. Instead, us tax payers paid tens of millions for a dead-end tribunal.

Ahern is free, living of our backs, yet we do nothing about it.

Bertie Ahern might not be as rich as Hosni Murbarak, but he is as corrupt as much.

Brian Cowen was finance minister during the Celtic boom. He is as corrupt as any non-elected Arab minister.

All the while, the spineless Irish people stoodby and did nothing.

The Irish have themselves to blame for the corrupt government they elected.

    @ Cathaoirleach

Not only did Bertie have dodgy expenses, but he ignored warnings from as late as the late 90s, and early 00s about a property boom. Also he ignored warnings from the DoF about FFs fiscal policies in that Ireland were heading for ruin. This would tell me that he ignored these warnings for his own power and gain.

The ex prime minster of iceland was charged with criminal negligance in the running of their country.

I wonder as we ever going to see this cnut ahern locked up. Although I want Ireland to bring back execution for him more than anything.

Why are we allowing this prick to walk away free? Why aren't there any protests to demand that we see punishment. Everyone with kids here in this country should be ashamed of themselves. What are you going to tell your kids when they grow up? They were sold into debt slavery while we let the gangsters who did this to walk away free with a big fat pension while the cuntry is broke. Your kids will never forgive you.

A marble statue with a brass neck would look a bit odd, no?
