Invalidity pension and a dole payment???

Following on from a previous post about my sisters unforutunate position and long term illness.

She is off sick from work long term now and is on an invalidity pension after being granted it,upon 2 medical examinations by social wellfare.

Here employers have now informed her that shes now being made redundant (compulsory). As you can imagine, its not the news she was expecting or wanted. So shes pretty much down in the dumps at the moment.

    Now my question is this........

If she has an invalidity pension (201 per week),and is being made redundant, does she have the right to sign on in local dole office aswell, even with geting invalidity pension?

This is a tricky situation and a bizzare one at that, but its real life and now a nightmare come true for her now.

So once she is made redundant and gets her P50 form (or whatever its called) is she entitled to sign on and does she get anything extra or does she lose anything?

Can she get invalidity pension and sign on too??

Any help/advice appreciated, because I dont have a notion and dont know what to tell her (except for chin up and keep smiling).

no she cant get even 1/2 rate JSB simply because (lifted from www.welfare.ie)
Half-rate Jobseeker's Benefit with another social welfare payment
If you are getting a Widow's/Widower's Pension, a One-Parent Family Payment or a deserted wives payment from DSFA and you meet all the conditions for Jobseeker's Benefit, you will be entitled to half the normal rate of Jobseeker's Benefit. An Increase for a Qualified Child is not paid with Jobseeker's Benefit in these cases because you are already being paid for your children in your main payment.

invalidity pension is not included here as you can see, so no can do.:(

Invalidity Pension means you are not able to work and it is not likely you will be in able for a long time. One of the conditions of Jobseeker's payments is you are fit and able for work. So no cannot sign for Jobseekers too.

She is on invalidity pension due to a physical illness, but she would be ok for the likes of light clerical office/desk work/non physical work.

Is there anything she would be entitled to or able to sign for, seen as shes being made redundant?

What should she do when she is made rednudant and gets the P50 form from her employeers? (or whatever its called).

    Thanks.:)

as cee-jay has said she cannot get a jobseekers payment as she is not fit for work. being fit for work is one of the main conditions if you want to get a jobseekers payment (signing on, the dole). also, her invalidity pension is a social welfare payment, paddy, and only in certain circumstances can you get 2 social welfare payments. she does not fall into any of those categories so there is nothing else she can claim from social welfare. does she have the "free schemes"? if she is living on her own or with someone who is "dependent" on her (in social welfare terms) or someone who is entitled to the free schemes themselves, than she should have the free tv licence free electricity units etc. +free travel . check on this with her. i presume she has applied for or already has a medical card. if not she should apply for one.if her employer pays her her redundancy and she is happy that she got at least the amount due to her, she will sign the RP50 form in the box at the bottom left hand side of the form and that will be the end of it. if he does not pay her or does not pay her the full amount she needs to get help from NERA 1890808090 (do not respond to any of the prompts "push button 1, push button2" etc stay on the phone until you speak to a human). if she knows her start day for that job, you can use the on-line redundancy calculator (just google it) to work out how much she due, or the citizens information should be able to help you with that.

If she is able to do light work she can look for a dispensation from the dept to work for 19 and a half hours a week, this must be certified by her gp as therapeutic http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/disability_and_illness/invalidity_pension.html

    Interesting reading,thanks for that.:)

She sustained a serious physical injury, that prevented her from doing her job wich was alot of manual handling/physical work.

So maybe theres hope for her, with regards the above link and information.

    Thanks again
