I hope someone can help me. I'm going mad with this problem.

I set about trying to update the security on my os commcrce website two days ago after been hacked. As recemmended I changed the name of the admin folder and then updated the two configure.php files on my site and everything was working fine...

Then the problem started.. I decided to change the site password in "cpanel" to make it a little more difficult to be hacked.

When changing the password, I selected the "Allow MySQL password change" option and my problems started. I have spent ages trying to recifty this problem using various suggestions from various fourms.

My website is giving the following error:
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'username'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/username/public_html/mystore/shop/6057/includes/functions/database.php on line 19
Unable to connect to database server!

I cannot get any further to solve this issue.

Can anyone suggest a resolution to this issue or something I can try to fix this problem.

    Thanks in advance.

can you not go into cpanel and change the password of the database? and fix it in oscommerce's configure file.

    No.. Just to explain.

I changed the name of the admin folder to make my site more secure. Part of this process was also to change the configure.php file to the renames "admin" folder.

I not trying to change the password in the configure.php files. I am simply looking for a method of resolving my database/oscommerce issue since I changed the database password by mistake.

    So to confirm...

    1st I did this

And everything was still working fine.

2nd from cpanel I changed the password but also had selected the "Allow MySQL password change" by mistake. Hence my issue.

I tried this to resolve the issue but no change.

My site is a blank page just showing the code:
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'username'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/username/public_html/mystore/shop/6057/includes/functions/database.php on line 19
Unable to connect to database server!

    Anyone any suggestions??

I'm sorry if I'm missing something, I'm quite tired now but..

Usually you can list your databases in Cpanel. I'm assuming you can still log in here. You should be able to change the password of the database there back the old one. This means you won't have to change oscommerce configuration I don't think. If you don't know what it was, you will have to update both with a new one.

    Sorry Webmonkey!!

Its me who must be tired. Your right. A little light just turned on in my head.

I tried to change the password in cpanel back to the new one.. but it was too similar so i changed it twice to get it back the old password... and every is working again...:D

Thanks for turning on that light. I can sleep now.

    Cheers.
