Having problems with my Garmin 500, reckon Garmin won't stand over year warranty from what friends are saying, so looking at alternatives.
    Anyone tried this product yet.

strongly suggest you contact Garmin via their customer website:
your friends might be wrong , based on their perception....

I smashed my 705 when I closed the boot door on it, contacted Garmin, told them what happened ,and they sent me a refurb for 130 euro plus a new 1 year warranty. My old unit went back to Garmin.

Garmin warranty coverage is very good indeed, among the best I have experienced. If you are within warranty and you didn't break it yourself (e.g. in a crash) they will replace it, quickly and for free. If you did break it, they will give you a refurb for a low price, as Michael says. I have done both, several times. I suggest you contact them on the phone.

Wrote to Garmin via the instructions on their website last Monday 7th and again on 11th, no reply to either email despite their promise thatn they will respond in 3days.
Have also written to CRC yesterday as they were the actual people I bought it off, no response from them yet either.

That was me I think? It was in Tullow and I made a graceful fall? Alright actually it was an embarrassing slide nearly under a BMW.

My garmin survived as did I apart from a gash and I'm back on my bike again although I'm a bit more careful in the rain

By the way. If it was me/ you, you were a great cycling partner for waiting and not laughing and then getting us back up the n9 up that hill through the downpour. Great fun.

As others say, phone them and they will sort out the return on the spot. I found then slow by email also.
