Blue Screen of Death

My PC had a virus, and I had to reinstall Windows XP. Things were going grand until all of a sudden I was getting blue screen of death and instant restarts. I looked up ways to fix this.

What I found was changing system settings from restart on system failure. Lots of people were saying the problem was fixed at this point for them, so I went with it. Well, predictably, the problem isn't really gone. I still get the blue screen of death. I just have to manually turn off the PC when I get it.

Is there a fix I am missing out on? I don't think it is a virus issue. I've ran scans just because its a smart thing to do, not because I think there is a connection. Nothing showed up in any case.

Edit: If this helps in any way, it mentioned something about turning off Caching or Shadowing in the BIOS. I looked there, but not knowing where that'd be hidden away, I couldn't do much.
