9.30pm on ESPN for Day one highlights, they've taken over the contract from DAVE and have promised more "on stage action" rather than interviews with celebrities and the like

Nothing on DAVE at all and I'm disgusted that Setanta have replaced it with roundy roundy fecking NASCAR!

Seems to be a really exiting rally so far. A lot of fresh snow fall slowed the first few cars on the road yesterday.

Irish man Craig Breen is doing really well for his first snow rally 16OA. He lost 3 or 4 minutes on stage two when another competitors car blocked the stage.

Really hope Petter can catch the front two cars.

Petter has a 20s penalty as well so in reality, he could only by 10s down.

Wonder why Craig has got no allowance for the stage being blocked?

Don't really know. The info is a bit sketcy about it

At the midway point today Craig was 30th overall. The Waterford driver had an exciting start over the opening four stages, starting out 12th after stage 1. Then on stage two he was held up by a crash that blocked the stage, he then hit a snow bank on the third test and dropped 15 seconds.

the Craig breen one is a bit strange alright if drivers continually fail to receive nominal times when they are entitled to them, like stopping at an accident, eventually they wont stop!

After that last stage he is up to 15th OA, 16 seconds behind block, now and 3rd in S2000 :)

Only ESPN are showing it this year.

Praying that this season isn't just all about one man from Alsace... :D

Nope its on motors TV too, 1 hour show every night. It mightn't be the best but its better than paying a fortune for ESPN

Less than 15 seconds seperating the top 5 with just the Super Special left tonight. It's going to be a great fight tomorrow.

Craig Breen up to 15OA, not a bad drive at all.

    Gwan Petter:D

solberg may lead when final times are released. he got a 10second penalty for checking in late but he was held up by snow ploughs or snow mobiles.... some sort of snow vehicle

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,852 ✭✭✭homer simpson

That quite frankly was one of the strangest things ive seen! The "power stage" was live there on ESPN, Ogier won the stage and get 3pts, leob second gets 2pts, and JM Latvala third gets 1pt but the real drama came when Solberg had his racing license taken off him for speeding and Cris Patterson his navi had to drive the stage for him ....

Leob then broke his steering and seemed to have broken down after the stage finish, but i believe he got going again but still might not make it to park perme.

    Overall results.
    1. M. HIRVONEN
    2. M. ØSTBERG +6.5
    3. J. LATVALA +27.5
    4. S. OGIER +13.7
    5. P. SOLBERG +43.5
    6. S. LOEB +59.1

It is the last stage of the rally that they will be showing live for every event this year. Basically fastest time over the "power stage" gets 3 extra points, 2nd fastest 2pts, 3rd place 1 point, this is on top of whatever points you may have won by your overall finishing position.
